The Problem
Across organizations of all sizes, HR processes suffer from fragmentation — multiple tools, disjointed workflows, and poor visibility between roles.
When I joined the project, my goal was clear but ambitious: to bring clarity where there was fragmentation, and connection where there was disconnect.
About the Project
Salry.io is a comprehensive employee self-service and HR management platform, designed to simplify how organizations handle attendance, claims, payroll, OKRs, and shift planning — all in one place.
The challenge was to design a solution that could scale across the entire spectrum without losing clarity or user trust.
As the Product Designer and Mobile App Development Lead, I led UX/UI strategy, user flow mapping, and React Native development to create a cohesive, human-centered HR ecosystem.
Empathy – Understanding the Workplace
Through contextual interviews and on-site observation, I identified four recurring failure points that drove inefficiency across every role.
Hierarchy of Employee Experience
This model, inspired by Maslow’s hierarchy, helped us prioritize design outcomes — from fundamental usability to long-term empowerment.

- Accessibility & Functionality → Easy daily use
- Control & Simplicity → Reliable, predictable workflows
- Belonging & Collaboration → Connected approvals and goals
- Transparency & Trust → Clear data, no surprises
- Empowerment & Growth → Motivation through purpose
“We realized we weren’t just building HR tools — we were designing confidence at work.”
These insights revealed that clarity wasn’t just missing in the interface — it was missing in the system’s structure and communication.
We turned this understanding into the foundation for Salry.io’s design — a platform that prioritizes transparency, trust, and empowerment.
Map – From Chaos to Clarity
Empathy turned into direction through mapping.
This phase focused on mapping workflows, identifying dependencies, and translating them into intuitive flows and dashboards.
We developed early wireframes that visualized how data should move — from an employee request to approval, from attendance to payroll, from goals to performance tracking. Techniques like card sorting and journey mapping helped define task hierarchies and screen priorities.
Once we understood the users' challenges, we mapped the ecosystem — connecting workflows, emotions, and decisions to define a clear, human-centered design roadmap.
Wireframe & Prototype were created to outline the core features and user flows. They provided a visual representation of the design decisions and helped guide the development process and user testing. These wireframes and prototypes were iterated on based on user feedback, ensuring that the final product met the needs of its users.

Rather than building a single “app,” we envisioned an interconnected ecosystem of modules — Attendance, Claims, Payroll, Shift Planning, OKRs — all linked through a shared design system and data layer.
Design – Bringing Clarity and Consistency
With clear priorities from the Empathy and Map phases, the design direction focused on creating an experience that feels light, intuitive, and deeply human—even when handling dense HR operations.
The goal was simple:
"Make HR tasks effortless for employees, powerful for managers, and stress-free for HR teams."
Visual Language & Principles
To support a wide range of workflows and demographics, we designed a system based on:
-
Calm Clarity: Soft spacing, clean layouts, and predictable patterns reduce cognitive load—especially for teams switching between modules like attendance, shift planning, claims, and OKRs.
-
Platform Consistency: A unified system across iOS, Android, and Web kept the learning curve low—even for first-time digital adopters.
Design System
Defined universal color palette and semantic tokens that scale accross modules. Which ensures consistency and predictability in the design language.- Actionable Interfaces: Every screen was optimized for what employees and HRs do most:
- Clock in/out
- Apply for leaves
- Submit a claim
- Approve a request
- View shift or salary
Fewer taps, smarter defaults, and instant confirmations.

- Progressive Disclosure: Only show what’s essential; reveal detail when needed. This maintained simplicity for small companies and configurability for enterprise clients.
Engineered a role-based command center that flips between employee, manager, and HR perspectives—turning scattered HR tasks into an at-a-glance dashboard. Employees see their actions. Managers see team status. HRs see approvals and analytics. All in one unified view.
The result was a single design language that connected five distinct HR workflows under one intuitive experience.
- Employees could access self-service actions instantly.
- Managers gained real-time visibility into team status.
- HRs benefited from unified dashboards and streamlined processing.
The platform became a key enabler of workplace clarity, helping organizations reduce administrative overhead and strengthen employee trust.
Outcomes – Measurable Impact
Post-launch results reflected the strength of this human-centered design approach:
Happier employees who trust the platform to handle their day-to-day tasks.
Streamlined payroll processing reduced manual errors and sped up processing times.
Unified platform boosted employee productivity by automating routine tasks and eliminating silos.
Unified dashboards improved cross-department alignment and reduced confusion around status updates.
Metrics based on pilot rollout across 3 regions over 6 weeks.
Salry.io successfully bridged the gap between enterprise control and everyday usability — a platform where technology enables people, not the other way around.
What I Learned
Designing Salry.io taught me the value of systems thinking — how modular design can support scalability without sacrificing simplicity.
It reinforced an essential truth in product design:
“Clarity is the real currency of user experience.”
By aligning every module under one design philosophy — empathy, purpose, and precision — Salry.io became more than an HR product. It became a workplace ecosystem that helps people feel organized, connected, and valued.
If you’re building modern HR workflows or rethinking people operations, I’d love to connect. Salry.io is built to make employees happier and HR more effective—through thoughtful product design and robust engineering.
